Jump into the delicious world of focaccia, an Italian classic. In this workshop, you'll have a chance to bake savoury focaccia with delicious toppings, ciabatta, and cinnamon & sugar sweet focaccia. You'll leave with an appreciation for how versatile this dough can be!
This half-day workshop is suitable for beginners, but experienced bakers are also welcome. Foundational concepts will be covered.
Skills: Bakers will learn how to use a scale, mix focaccia dough, fermentation concepts, dough handling, proofing & baking. The focus on this workshop will be to learn how to bake through the senses.
What we will provide: A light meal and a drink will be provided, and are included in the workshop fee. We will provide all ingredients needed and tools.
What you will need to bring: container or bowl to bring home some dough (around 3L), and an apron.
This workshop will be run by Jess Carpinone, co-founder and co-owner of Bread by Us. Jess has a diploma in Baking and Pastry Arts from the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, as well as 14 years of bread baking experience. Jess is passionate about transferring knowledge about the craft of bread baking to anyone who is interested.
Terms
Age requirement: People under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Allergies and Dietary Needs: Please inform us of any food allergies or dietary restrictions by leaving us a note at checkout and we will do our best to provide you with a meal that you can enjoy.
Health & Safety: All participants should wear shoes with flat, non-slip soles and covered toes.
If you are are sick with a new or worsening cold, flu, covid infection, or other known contagious illness, we ask that you cancel your attendance. Your fees will be credited towards a future workshop, redeemable within 1 year.
Some indicators that you should cancel your attendance are: fever/chills, new or worsening cough, sore throat, vomiting or diarrhea, loss of taste.
Masking is not mandatory in workshops, but they are welcome.
Cancellations (not related to illness):
You may request a change of workshop date up to 3 weeks before the start of the workshop and we will happily transfer you to another date, subject to availability.
You may also request a refund up to 3 weeks before the start of the course you have booked. In both instances, rescheduling or refunding bookings will be subject to an administration charge of $25.
If you are unable to attend a workshop and notify us within 3 weeks of the date, we regret that we will be unable to refund or reschedule the workshop.
